Sen. Malala to Uhuru And Raila: Back up Musalia for Presidency

Kakamega County senator Cleophas Malala has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga to support Musalia Mudavadi presidential bid in 2022.

Cleophas Malala said this during the burial ceremony of Mama Hannah Mudavadi, the mother to Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

Malala, in his introductory speech, congratulated the president and ODM leader for the handshake. He said that because of the handshake, Kenya has peace. Additionally, he asked the president to take action against those seemingly against him.

“Handshake imeleta amani. Today, I challenge the President, as, on your side, people are disturbing the peace. Chukua rungu yako, nyorosha hao wanaokusumbua upande yako,” he said.

The youthful senator also touched on the letter from Irungu Kang’ata asking him to apologize to the president for undermining him.

“Mtukufu Rais kuna watu ambao wanaku undermine. Kuna watu ambao hawataki kukuunga mkono. Nakuomba tafadhali wale watu ambao wanakupinga, na wengi wao wanatoka kule kwenu. Na leo nilikua natarajia Irungu Kang’ata aombe msamaha kwa ile barua uliandikia Rais,” he said.

Malala further took the opportunity to drum up support for ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi 2022 presidential bid. He said that Musalia having supported both of them previously, it was their time to pay back.

Mimi ningependa kuomba nyinyi viongozi wawili. The only legacy you can leave is to leave Kenya in a safe pair of hands and that safe pair of hands is Musalia Mudavadi,” The deputy senate minority leader stated.

The function was attended by many dignitaries and graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
