Juventus and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for coronavirus and is set to miss their match against Sweden. The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed the news in an official statement on their website Tuesday.
“Following the positive test, the remaining squad underwent new tests on Tuesday morning, and all produced a negative result and are available to Fernando (Santos) for training this afternoon.” the statement read.
Cristiano will miss Portugal’s Nation’s League meeting with Sweden on Wednesday night as he begins a ten-day period of self-isolation.
Portuguese head coach Fernando Santos said that the Portugal international is doing well, without symptoms, and in isolation.
The former Real Madrid star is now doubtful for Juve’s Serie A trip to Crotone on Saturday and their Champions League group stage opening game away to Dynamo Kyiv next week on Tuesday.
